Questions before you order your checkup

That depends on the checkup; each test tells you. If you have to come fasting, eat and drink nothing except water after 22:00 the evening before, at least 8 hours. Skip coffee and tea that morning, and have blood drawn before 10:00.

No. After you order we request the referral through ZorgDomein within one business day; order after 17:00 or at the weekend and the next business day counts. You get a ZorgDomein email with a barcode to show at the draw site. At a few draw sites you make the appointment yourself on your order page, or we make it.

No. A checkup you request yourself falls outside the basic Dutch insurance. You pay yourself, and it is not taken from your deductible (eigen risico).

Allow one business day, plus one after 17:00 or at the weekend, until the referral email has arrived; without a referral you cannot go. Then some draw sites take walk-ins and others work by appointment. Which one it is, you see per location.

A valid ID and the barcode from the ZorgDomein email. You show the barcode on your phone, so printing is not needed. If you have no BSN, the email contains no barcode; you then print the referral form from the link in that email.

Yes, just as always, unless your own doctor said something different. Some checkups ask for more, such as no alcohol for 24 hours or no heavy training for 48 hours. That is on the test and in the instructions after your order.

At the draw site you show the barcode and your ID; then blood is taken. The whole thing takes about a quarter of an hour.

Yes. A BIG-registered doctor assesses every result and adds an explanation of your values in your account. If you want to go on to treatment, discuss it with your GP.

One of the independent, certified laboratories across the Netherlands that Mijnbloedtest works with. They also manage the draw sites, and Mijnbloedtest does not own those. Reference values sometimes differ a little per laboratory.

No. The checkup does not go through your GP and does not enter your medical record. Data goes to a healthcare provider only with your written consent and is never sold. Anonymous testing does not work: a valid result needs your name, date of birth and a valid ID.
